mccainSen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he was “overjoyed” to learn of the death of Osama bin Laden. “I am overjoyed that we finally got the world’s top terrorist,” McCain said in the statement that offered congratulations to President Obama.

“The world is a better and more just place now that Osama bin Laden is no longer in it,” he said. “I commend the President and his team, as well as our men and women in uniform and our intelligence professionals, for this superb achievement.”

But McCain, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee warned the U.S. still faces a determined enemy in al Qaeda.

“While we take heart in the news that Osama bin Laden is dead, we must be mindful that al-Qaeda and its terrorist allies are still lethal and determined enemies, and we must remain vigilant to defeat them,” he said.

  1. Good for Mr. McCain. He’s an honest man and an honest patriot. He isn’t holding any grudges about his personal election loss, he’s just glad for the country and ready to congratulate the Commander in Chief who finally got the job done.
