The Mega Millions lottery has risen by an additional $100 million. In the latest drawing held on Friday night, there were no jackpot winners, causing the top prize to surge to an estimated $820 million. The numbers drawn in the Friday drawing were 29, 40, 47, 50, 57, and the gold Mega Ball 25. No tickets matched all these numbers, resulting in the previous estimated grand prize of $720 million going unclaimed.

For the upcoming drawing on Tuesday night, the estimated $820 million jackpot will only be given to a winner who chooses to receive it as an annuity, paid out over 29 years. However, most winners typically opt for a cash payout, and for this Tuesday’s drawing, the cash option is estimated to be around $422 million. Mega Millions stated that this potential jackpot would be the fifth largest in the history of the game.

Despite the lottery’s long odds of 1 in 302.6 million, players continue to purchase tickets in anticipation of the growing grand prize. The last time a player won the Mega Millions jackpot was on April 18. In the most recent drawing, eight tickets matched five white balls, earning the holders a $1 million prize each. These winning tickets were sold in various states, including Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, California, and Michigan, according to Mega Millions.
