Wow! Precious family and friends, where to begin?
I am feeling completly overwhelmed and blessed to be able to share this journey of daily struggle from darkness to beautiful light in this brand-new single!
This melody “came to me” a few years ago one Motsei Shabbat. I was with my soul brother Yosef under the stars and moonlight, looking over at the Kotel and its neighbouring walls, and that was it. I just burst out crying from the deepest place of pain, yearning, and lack that I have ever felt.
Paradoxically, it was actually the moment I had been waiting for all my life, in that it was also the first time I had an emotional experience in the place that represents the purpose of life. It also was the first time I was able to see past a wailing wall into a painful past and a blissful future.
It was, in some ways, the first time I felt life, alive, and that there was something worth struggling day and night for.
In short, whilst I was crying, yearning, and feeling totally far from life itself, it was truly the deepest pleasure I had ever experienced.
I think this is because of the vulnerability and realness I had to choose in order to confront all the superficial “awesomeness” of my life, and as a result, a big empty space was born. But the great and empty space started to sing to me,
אם לא אעלה את ירושלים על ראש שמחתי
awakening me to dream and build inside of it the most beautiful physical and spiritual symphony and empire that I could possibly imagine.
Because I was born a Levite, my mission and dream to sing to a world full of love from the Beit Hamikdash, the Third Temple, seems to have not been a choice, but something which I feel, from so deep inside, that I must dedicate my life to in all its beauty and challenge. This is such a precious moment for me, and I am overjoyed to share with you! I hope you enjoy, and please remember to share with family and friends!
