Mexico May Sue Google Over ‘Gulf of Mexico’ Name Change

On Thursday, Claudia Sheinbaum, the President of Mexico, called on Google to reverse its decision to label the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” for U.S. users, warning that Mexico might take legal action against the company if needed.

The tech giant made the change to its Google Maps service for users in the United States, aligning with a move by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to rename the Gulf of Mexico. Sheinbaum has consistently condemned this action.
