matzav_networkThis week, Matzav.com was gratified to hand a check of over $30,000 to one of the askanim involved in assisting Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin. The money came from donations sent in this week alone by you, Matzav.com readers, and will be given directly to the Rubashkin family. The contributions came from Jews of all types and stripes, from dozens of cities literally across the globe.

The selflessness and sensitivity of the readers of this website have been remarkable. Close to $100,000 in total – and the number is growing fast each day – has been raised on Matzav.com to assist Reb Sholom Mordechai in paying for the exorbitant defense costs. That is in addition to what we are told is hundreds of thousands of dollars raised by the Yated Ne’eman newspaper and its esteemed publisher, Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz.

Over the last week, gatherings have been held around North America for Reb Sholom Mordechai. Divrei hisorerus were delivered and Tehillim was recited. We were informed that dozens of yeshivos on the American Olam HaTorah landscape recited Tehillim this week for Reb Sholom Mordechai ben Rivkah.

Our heilige nation has shown that we are a nation of achdus. Our detractors like to say that pirud, division, is rampant in our communities. But we know the truth. We know that as diverse as we all are, we are unified. We see it. We can feel it. And here at Matzav.com we have been fortunate to witness it each day for months, as contributions have come in to assist Reb Sholom Mordechai, and kind and encouraging words are sent in to us by special Yidden from across the globe.

How fortunate we are to be part of the Am Segulah! May our displays of achdus and love for each other serve as merits for Reb Sholom Mordechai ben Rivkah.

  1. Thank you so much to Matzav for continuing to raise awareness about the suffereing of a wonderfull Yid. The achdus should continue in good times as well. What a true article.

  2. do they still need money?

    MATZAV.COM RESPONDS:

Yes, funds are still desperately needed. This has been a long case, which has been very expensive, and the appeal will be coming up as well following the sentencing. Well over a million dollars is needed and we will continue to reach out to members of Klal Yisroel to contribute. As we’ve seen, the $10, $20, $50, $100 contributions – and some larger than that – all add up.

Tizku l’mitzvos to all of you wonderful, caring, special people who have taken part in this mitzvah of pidyon shvuyim.
