Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced Monday he will order all Miami restaurants to close for in-person dining after more than 21,000 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Florida over the weekend.

“I am continuing to roll back business openings as we continue to see a spike in the percent of positive COVID-19 tests and an uptick in hospitalizations,” Gimenez said.

Restaurants will continue to provide take-out and delivery options, but dining rooms will be closed. Gimenez will also order all ballrooms, banquet facilities, party venues, gyms and fitness centers, and short term rentals to close.

“These closings, among others that will be included in the order, will be effective Wednesday, July 8, 2020,” Gimenez said. “We want to ensure that our hospitals continue to have the staffing necessary to save lives.”

  1. The daily covid19 fatalities in Florida are within the same range they’ve been for the last few months, yet the opportunistic Machiavellians will never let a crisis go to waste. Miami Dade county, unlike most of Florida, is controlled by the Dumborats, isn’t it? And our community is based in Miami, right? For some unfathomable reason, our communities always end up in Democratic cesspools. Can’t we just all pick up and resettle somewhere where the socialist-fascists are not in power.
