One of the world’s oldest known megillos has been gifted to the National Library of Israel in Yerushalayim, the National Library announced on Monday.
The megillah date back to 1465 and scholars believe that they were written by a sofer in the Iberian Peninsula.
The new addition is “an incredibly rare testament to the rich material culture of the Jews of the Iberian Peninsula,” Dr. Yoel Finkelman, curator of the National Library of Israel’s Haim and Hanna Salomon Judaica Collection, said in a statement.
