House Speaker Mike Johnson declared on Sunday that Judea and Samaria are part of Israel.
Speaking on the Washington Watch radio program with host Tony Perkins, Johnson was asked about US President Donald Trump’s stance against Israel annexing the West Bank. Johnson responded: “I believe that Judea and Samaria are the traditional lands that belong to Israel. But there are a lot of geopolitical forces at play here. I think there’s still a lot to resolve, and we will have to see how this develops.”
Just a few days earlier, Trump told journalists: “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen… There’s been enough. It’s time to stop now.”
Pressed on whether he had directly spoken with Trump regarding Judea and Samaria since those remarks, Johnson admitted that he has not yet had the chance to raise the subject with him.
Johnson recently traveled to Israel, becoming the first House speaker ever to visit Judea and Samaria.
During that trip, he joined Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a meeting in Shiloh, a Samarian community, marking the first time a US official of his rank had sat down with an Israeli prime minister in the region.
That event came on the heels of Johnson leading a group of senior Trump administration officials and congressional members to Ariel, another city in Samaria. It was the first official US delegation of its kind to hold a formal visit there.
While in Ariel, Johnson—who occupies the third-highest position in the American government—announced that he intends to push for the US to drop the use of the term “West Bank” in federal documents and instead officially recognize the areas as Judea and Samaria.

It seems like a malicious dybbuk took over Trump. He definitely doesn’t act normal and doesn’t look normal. Could Mike Johnson exorcise it?
