Former Vice President Mike Pence said he believes Americans “understand” that he did the right thing on Jan. 6, 2021, by refusing to decertify the electoral count despite escalating pressure to do so from then-President Donald Trump, the NY Post reports.

“Ultimately, I believe that most Americans understand that we did our duty that day under the Constitution and the laws of this country,” Pence told the Wall Street Journal in an interview.

“The president and I had very different styles, we’re different men,” Pence said. “But we were working shoulder to shoulder … and we delivered for the American people.”

He said he will decide whether to run for the White House in early 2023, a decision that will come based on prayer and discussions with friends but also on Trump’s 2024 intentions.

  1. You were a coward , Mike , and there’s nothing in the Constitution to support you. You got very poor advice. At minimum , you should not have certified and let SCOTUS deal with constitutionality. You’re done , Mike.

  2. Mr .Pence seems to be a very decent man, but signing off on that insurrection (to use the left’s term) was in no way the right thing to do.

  3. What an upstanding individual. America was fortunate to have had a sense of reason and sanity in the VP office. Hopefully he runs and wins in 2024 but admittedly, it’s a longshot. Our loss! He’s just too decent for our corrupt country.

  4. I, for one, totally DO NOT understand his position – other than being afraid of the mob and swamp. The constitution openly says the state legislatures should be the ones sending the electors which in all those case they did not (as the governors didn’t let them be in-charge). He had every constitutional right to say these aren’t kosher electors, and NO constitutional right to let them go.

  5. Mike Pence is done. He is trying to convince himself that the American people understand why he did what he did. News Flash! We do not understand, nor do we forgive him. Look at this country now thanks to his cowardice. He is totally unelectable.

  6. As another commenter said already – Mike Pence is an upstanding and soft-spoken person and therefore stands no chance of doing what it will take to win the presidency. Imagine a goy who is makpid not to meet privately with a woman without the presence of his wife. When he debated Kamela the giggle-head (hey, where has she been?), he was so (too) courteous while she blamed Trump and Pence for the whole covid thing.

  7. There’s more to the ceremony that takes place on January 6th than just signing off on what the states deliver especially if there are congressmen and senators that can test the results. Normally, it’s just that they want to have their own little agenda however, in this case we already knew that there was a lot of shenanigans that went on. More and more was coming out every day and I have no doubt in my mind the vice president knew a lot more than what we the people did on that day. There’s no reason he could have sent those questionable electors back to the states. That was his constitutional right to do. His constitutional right is not necessarily to rubber stamp. If we wanted a rubber stamp we would have just had marble mouth pelosi up there to say everything was good.

The fact is that the vice president, Mike pence, should have sent it back to the states. Would it have made a difference? Who knows? Probably not, but at least it would have got more questions going. Maybe someone would have talked sooner?
