There are stories of miraculous salvations attributed to the Segula of distributing Chai Rotel, food or drink, to those visiting the Kever of Reb Shimon Bar Yochai in Miron on Lag Baomer. This Segula is mentioned in the name of Tzaddikim as a special Zechus for childless couples to be Bentched with children, the ill to recover, and all other Yeshuos.

Rabbi Ovadia of Bartenura writes about the importance of Chai Rotel: “Many sick people were healed and many barren women were blessed with children of their own as a result of the donations that were promised to be distributed on Lag Baomer.”

A special project of the known organization Lev Lacholeh, has been launched. Hachnosas Orchim Lev Harashbi’s volunteers have a target goal to provide thousands of individually packed meals, drinks, and baked goods round the clock to the many expected visitors in Miron on Lag Baomer this year. This distribution will take place while adhering to the strict COVID regulations.

  1. Can someone please tell us a specific citation for the quote from R’ Ovadiah MiBartenura? Exactly where can it be found? Thank you.

  2. Misleading to post a picture of Rav Chaim Kanievsky with this article – when asked about this segulah Rav Chaim questioned its veracity. Derech Sicha pg 429

  3. There is no Bartenura mentioning Chai Rotal
The three Lag Baomer stories (ספר טל ירושלים)

    1) A baby died in Meron on Lag Baomer. The mother was upset and complained to R. Shimon that they came to his Simcha and the child died. The mother took the dead child and threw him on top of Rashbi’s Kever and the child had תחיית המתים and became alive again.

    2) Originally on Lag Baomer, they had dancing for both men & women (separately)
Until a למדן came along and made the women stop dancing. They were upset with him for doing so.
This למדן fell asleep and Rashbi came to him in a dream and told him “because you disturbed my Simcha by holding back the women from dancing therefore at your Simcha the same will happen to you.”
Shortly afterward, he married off his son who died at his own wedding.
Seems Rashbi would be happy if women dance on his grave.

    THE ORIGIN OF CHAI ROTEL

    3) Two people (in Meron) were serving a lot of Mashkeh (booze) They said the reason for doing so is because.

One of them was childless for 14 years. He went to
Meron on Lag Baomer and made a Neder
in a loud voice ” He will donate 18 Rotel Mashkeh so
that Hashem should grant him a בן זכר that year.” The people around him all answered אמן.

The Ribono Shel Olam granted him his wish and he had
    a בן זכר that year.
3 years later he came back to Meron to cut the hair of the
child and pay up his promise.

The second person also had the same story but he was
    childless for 10 years.

Those who believe the first two stories should have no trouble believing the third story.
This is the first מקור (first source) of the Chai Rotel Segulah.

Three years After the ישועה you can pay Kupat Here &There
    the Chai Rotel.
