The moment that Pesach ended, Misaskim rushed to supply furniture and other needs to 45 homes where aveilim sat down to shiva. The arrival of Pesach delayed the onset of shiva for many of the aveilim. Several hundred people who sat shiva were served by Misaskim. Thankfully, Misaskim maintains a significant inventory to meet such challenging times. But because some of the furniture is ultimately worn and others in need in repair, Misaskim must constantly update its inventory.
Misaskim maintains several warehouses to meet the needs of aveilim. The large number of shiva homes in a given period, as it happened after Pesach, puts an enormous strain on Misaskim’s budget. Each call requires transportation and manpower, often running into the hundreds for each stop. Most people do not recognize this simple stark fact, which is why Misaskim often appeals to the community for help.
