
MK Yaakov Asher of UTJ proposed a bill to force owners of electric scooters to license the vehicles. This supposedly would curb reckless riders who utilize their anonymity to ride dangerously on streets and sidewalks.
A survey of the Ohr Yarok road safety organization found that 57% of respondents thought that Israel should ban rental electric scooters, following the example of Paris, which is set to ban them from their streets in September.
Fifty-one percent of respondents were seriously concerned about being involved in electric scooter accidents.
The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the number of people injured in electric scooter accidents increased by 10% in 2022 to 1,469 victims, compared to 1,335 in 2021. The number of severely injured victims increased by 27.5% from 214 to 271, and five people were killed each year.
The Ministry of Transportation issued a new regulation to prohibit powered vehicles including electric bikes and scooters from all public spaces designated for pedestrians including promenades, parks, paths, and public squares, in addition to the existing ban of such vehicles from sidewalks.

Israel should be like the civilized countries that are based on some aspects of Noahide laws including personal safety and an opposition to immorality.
