umanKnesset Member Danny Danon wants Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to discuss with the visiting president of Ukraine on Thursday the idea of reburying the Rav Nachman of Breslov in Eretz Yisroel.

MK Danon said that he knows someone who has offered to finance bringing the remains from Ukraine, where tens of thousands of Israelis visit the kever of Rav Nachman every year.

Previous attempts to rebury Rav Nachman in Israel have failed.

“Hundreds of thousands of Israelis who are followers of Rav Nachman are not able to fly to Ukraine and visit his kever,” and reburying him in Israel would allow them to do so, said MK Danon.

Rav  Nachman was born in 1772 and was niftar only 38 years later.

Before he was niftar, he said that every Jew who visits his kever on Rosh Hashanah will be saved from evil even if someone “pulls his sidelocks.”

MK Danon told Prime Minister Netanyahu, “We have a rare opportunity to do justice for Rav Nachman… Re-buying him in Israel will bring historic honor to the country that is the home of the Jewish people.”

The Knesset Member suggested that the Har Hazeisim Cemetery opposite the Har Habayis in Yerushalayim is a potential and central location for the reburial of Rav Nachman.

  1. we all beleave in the words of tzadikim & the power that the wards they say have, if Reb Nachmen wanted to be in uman and he said many time he wants to be were he is, every one can try doing what ever they want. It just wont work!
i am not here to compair but moshe rabainu is also not in eretz yisroel & the only way we were able to survive this long golus is only because of the fact the moshe rabainu is “mul bais pe’or” every tzadik is in the best place they can be.
whit the coming of moshiach hopefully very soon we will all go to eretz yisroel with all the gr8 tzadikim

  2. What world do you live in where every religious leader gets the same title? A Rov paskens shailos. A real Rebbe is much much more than that.

  3. That would be a win win situation. All the Chutznikim would be oleh regel to Yerushalayim, the local economy would benifit greatly, and most importantly, the locals would still be able to spend Yom Tov with their wife’s & children!

  4. #5, please provide a source for this chiddush. Last I checked, there are three smichos available: Yoreh Yoreh, Yadin Yadin and Yatir Bechoros.

Is there some type of double-secret smicha not discussed in shas?

  5. Davening to the dead is avoda zara as brought down in Gesher HaChaim’s chapter on kivrei tzaddikim. At least they will not have the aveira of leaving Eretz Yisrael for a non-mitzva reason, as paskened by Rav Kook and Rav Ovadia.

  6. The people who live in Uman will not let this happen! The money that they make during this time supports them for a good part of the year!
    This is their livelihood!

  7. As all you people have pretty much no clue what your talking about i in my most humble opinion would like to share some wisdom which none of you commenters have. To start off there is nothing wrong about going to uman rosh hashana… neither did rabeinu promise he will pull you out by your peyos if you come for specificly rosh hashana. Okay next topic… moving rabeinu nachal noiva mekar chochma tzadik yesoid oilam na nach nachma nachman meuman ben feiag zechusoi yogen aleinu v’al kol yisrael moving rabeinu to eretz yisroel isnot the best idea first of all rabeinu wanted to beburied in uman he said at the end of his life that he wants to be know as reb nachman MEUMAN. So it wont be kavod hameis to move rabeinu to eretz yisroel however rabeinu should remain in the place where he wanted to be buried which is uman. To end off i would just like to share one more important thing you should all note is that whenever you come across a nisayon a test you should say with intense concentration these holy words… The words are as follows… NA NACH NACHMA NACHMAN MEUMAN… and it that zchus you should merit to overcome the test or nisayon and we should all be zoche to see the meshiach tzidkeinu and rabeinu b’meheira veyameinu amen.

  8. Look, I’m not a holy Breslover – or even a categorized chosid at all. This is about the lowest I have ever heard of anyone (yid or goy) stoop to raise tourist dollars. How disgusting a self-serving thought to exhume ANY body, much less a know gadol that has been resting in his place of choice for centuries unharmed and in peace, just for posterity at best, recognition and added tourism income at most likely.
Consider the gadol and his followers. Nothing was wrong for him up until this point, leave it all alone!
We have a Nuclear Iran and chaos in mitzrayim to deal with. Get your head on straight. But, hey, what do I know?

  9. To “True Jew(which is a NA NACH)

Wow! you said “As all you people have pretty much no clue what your talking about i in my most humble opinion would like to share some wisdom which none of you commenters have”

How can you say “in my most humble opinion” after saying that everyone has no clue and then saying that you will share wisdom that no one else has.

Do you know what humble means?

  10. #17, I prefer the derech of the Brisker Rov when faced with a nisayon: you should intensely concentrate on Ain Od Milvado – there is nothing other than Hakadosh Baruch Hu. And amen to your bracha that we should be zoche to bias haMashiach bimheira b’yameinu.

Reburying Rav Nachman in Eretz Yisrael will bring parnassa to many Yidden, rather than supporting the anti-Semites in Uman. It will also save all the Israeli poor families who are moser nefesh to cover the airfare. It should not be much more expensive for other Jews to fly to Israel rather than the Ukraine (aside from Jews living in the former USSR). All the money saved could be given to tzedaka (l’ilui nishmas Rabi Nachman if you so choose…).

  11. #15, Rav Kook pointed out that the greatest tzaddikim in history are buried in the Maharat HaMachpela. Rav Ovadia blasted them for deserting their families on Rosh HaShana.

#17,”MeUman” means “from Uman”. In other words he left. As for the “na na” nonsense, the way it started is that when a bachur in a Breslov yeshiva in Teveria went to the bathroom his friends decided to play a joke on him and left a not in his gemara.

  13. #15, the greatest tzaddikim in history are in the Maarat HaMachpela so there is no necessity to leave.

#17, “meUman” means “from Uman”. In other words, he left. As for the “na na” nonsense, it started when some bachurim in a Breslov yeshiva in Teveria decided to play a joke on one of their fellows. When he went to the bathroom they left this note in his gemara.

  14. #17, I feel sorry for you. It’s almost like we practice the same religion.

As to your claims, a person is known not by the place of his death, but by the place he lived. If buried in Eretz Yisroel, he would still be Rav Nachman M’Uman.

As far as saying Na Nach in times of trouble, I just ask that you find me a single source that proves that such chants have ANY place in Yiddishkeit. As far as my Rabbonim go, the solutions are tefillah, tehillim and learning. Nobody every said to do a strange chant.

Sadly, I am aware that neither logic nor mesorah will have no bearing on your beliefs.

  15. TURN TO HASHEM FOR HELP & BE GAURENTTED SUCCESS BY HASHEM HIMSELF for one that seeks out hashem lacks nothing that is good (tehillim chapter 34)

  16. to all you commenters that commented on me i said rabeinu wants to be there its not right to move him…as far as saying na nach its a zechus and its not nonsens
