A bill that would require every mohel to obtain liability insurance was postponed for four weeks by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Proposed by MKs Rachel Azaria of Kulanu and Avraham Neguise of Likud, the bill noted that at present, any harm incurred during a bris milah needs to be paid by the mohel who may have limited resources.

Who needs Mohel Liability Insurance!?
If this goes through, small time mohelim would not be able to afford a malpractice insurance, and the cost of hiring a mohel would jump up to thousands of dollars.
I thought that al pe halacha, a mohel is not allowed to charge?
If this bill passes, they’ll have to charge to cover for malpractice insurance premiums. Mohelim won’t be able to pay out of their own pocket.
If the secular Israeli government would be able to, they’d abolish Bris Milah altogether, as well as shchitah.
