The Jerusalem District Court ordered police on Monday to free the mother of a teenage girl taken into custody last week following her 13-year-old daughter’s illegal wedding to a 15-year-old boy.

Authorities say the kallah was reported missing by her father two months ago, and suspect that her mother hid her until the wedding. The mother was arrested along with five others at the wedding, which took place on a rooftop in Meah Shearim early Friday morning.

The kallah’s mother was kept in custody through Shabbos until the Jerusalem District Court ordered her immediate release on Monday.

  1. Good, because this goes against the age-gap crisis narrative. Either the couple should of both been 13 or both been 15. We can’t allow such a big age-gap of 2 years to separate a couple. That’s a terrible terrible machela that’s ravaging our community. End the madness now.

  2. You got it wrong henoch, the girl should have been 15 and the boy 13, that should solve the shidduch crisis.
In all seriousness, I don’t get why the Israeli government is making such an issue. As long as a girl isn’t married (at 12 or 13) then it’s okay if she gets pregnant. If the couple gets married then it becomes illegal and wrong. I’m not advocating 13 year old marriage in our generation , but stop encouraging pritzut, boys and girls learning together, girls in the army, and tons of money given to a single parent.
