YeahThatsKosher reports that two famous, long-standing, Garment District NYC kosher delis, one Glatt and one not, are coming together to create a new Glatt kosher experience in midtown Manhattan: Ben’s Kosher Deli (established in 1972) & Mr. Broadway (established in 1922). The new combined entity will retain the Mr. Broadway brand name.
The current Ben’s Deli space, on W38th st. just off of 7th Avenue, is currently undergoing renovations to modernize and beautify the space for the new eatery. This means that in the near future, Mr. Broadway will be closing its current space only a block away on Broadway off of W37th st. The new space has room for 250 seated diners – over 100 more seats than the current Mr. B location – including 3 private rooms that can be reserved.
The menu for the new restaurant will be mostly from Mr. Broadway, but incorporate some of Ben’s Deli’s best dishes. Everything will be Glatt, reports YeahThatsKosher.
I once ate at Mr. Broadway on a Thursday night back in 1992.
Yeah, I remember seeing you there.
The Ben’s location was previously Lou G. Siegel’s, a legendary and premier kosher eatery that went Glatt but sadly closed its doors.
Happy to read the site is returning to a glatt menu. Mr. Broadway is a very good restaurant that happens to be Glatt kosher. Good luck on the merger.
Ben’s site was originally the site of Lou G. Seigel’s, a legendary and premier kosher restaurant that ultimately went Glatt kosher before closing. Wonderful that this site is again a Glatt eatery. Mr. Broadway has delicious food and fine service. Blending the 2 menus will make it even more interesting. Looking forward. Good luck.
You both had the salami, but were jealous of the better tasting corned beef we had. Burp!
I walked by it on the way to pizza maven. They offered homemade borscht.
It was near J2 on Broadway.
