It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Mrs. Maita Rosenblum a”h.
Mrs. Rosenblum was a daughter of Rav Shraga Moshe Kalmanowitz zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, and a granddaughter of Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz zt”l, founding rosh yeshiva of the Mirrer Yeshiva.
She was the wife of Rav Moshe Rosenblum, a noted talmid chochom who has served as one of the senior editors for the ArtScroll Schottenstein Shas.
Rabbi and Mrs. Rosenblum initially lived in Eretz Yisroel, but subsequently moved to the United States prior to the Gulf War at the urging of Mrs. Rosenblum’s father, Rav Shraga Moshe. Mrs. Rosenblum served as an administrator at the Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, devoting herself b’lev v’nefesh to the yeshiva in extraordinary ways.
Mrs. Rosenblum was a devoted eizer kenegdo to her illustrious husband, and a dedicated mother and bubby to her children and grandchildren. She exemplified the traits of the Yiddishe mammeh of old, serving as a sterling role model to her family and anyone she encountered.
Mrs. Rosenblum sustained the passing of her beloved son, Yisroel Elchonon (Sruly) z”l, in 2010, but with unwavering emunah and bitachon, she always spoke of the chesed of the Ribono Shel Olam.
Mrs. Rosenblum is survived by her husband, Rav Moshe; her mother, Rebbetzin Malka Kalmanowitz; her siblings, Rav Yaakov Mordechai Kalmanowitz, Rav Aharon Leib Kalmanowitz, Rav Osher Kalmanowitz, Rav Yitzchok Kalmanowitz , Mrs. Esther Sommer, Mrs. Libby Zolty and Mrs. Devoiry Newman; her children, R’ Avrohom Meir, R’ Eliyahu, R’ Aharon Leib, R’ Yaakov Yeshaya, R’ Boruch Dov, R’ Yossi, Mrs. Dassy Keller and Mrs. Rochel Wegh; and many grandchildren. As mentioned she was predeceased by her son, habochur Yisroel Elchonon (Sruly) z”l, as well as her sister, Mrs. Henny Spitzer a”h.
The levayah will be held Sunday morning, at 9:30 a.m., at the Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street, off of East Seventh Street in Lakewood, NJ. The levayah will continue at 12:30 p.m. at Mirrer Yeshiva, located at 1791 Ocean Parkway, at the corner of Avenue R, in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

As a talmid i knew every single morning i will pass by her office and get a smile from her that made my entrance to yeshiva start off with a geshamk and that helped me have a day of hatzlocha. you were able to see the miseres nefesh on her anytime we saw her in the hall. no matter what we needed she made sure that all was done in the best fashion so that we as the talmidim can grow to talmidie chachimin. she will surely be missed by thousands of talmidim that feel the same way. i remember the way she would be able to spot a boy that didnt have breakfast at home and she would take out of her bag a danish and a drink so that he was able to have a good day of learning. the rebbitzin not only was the administrator but she made sure anything and everything for the yeshiva was taken care of from making sure the building was clean to the whole financial responsibility.
I remember her growing up in Mir yeshiva, she was always nice and warm to me.
