It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Mrs. Marta (Mattil Leah) Schron a”h. She was 75 years old.

Marta, as she was known, was a modest, kindhearted, generous isha chashuvah who was beloved by all who knew her.

While serving as a pillar of support to her illustrious husband, Reb Reuven Schron, one of the greatest baalei tzedakah and baalei chesed of this generation, Marta was also a doting mother and grandmother, raising an outstanding family together with Reb Reuven.

Marta hailed from the Lower East Side, a daughter of Chazzan Schraub, and the pashtus and ehrlichkeit of her upbringing never left her. She personified the dignity and modesty of an aim b’Yisroel, carrying herself with constant happiness and a kind word for one and all.

Marta married her husband, Ruby, who, like her, grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

The Schron home at 9th Street and Avenue R in Flatbush, Brooklyn has been a source of great klal chesed and a bais vaad lachachomim, but Marta was always content being in the background, out of the limelight, doing whatever she could to assist individuals and mosdos haTorah, whether it was the schools her children attended and other mosdos she could assist.

The Schrons have been fixtures at the Mirrer Yeshiva minyan in Flatbush for half a century, with the Mir being just one institution benefitting and being enriched by Mishpachas Schron.

Mrs. Schron was gentle and compassionate, a true friend to so many and a model for others to emulate. Neighbors and friends recall her personally delivering the “Schron honey” before Rosh Hashanah, always accompanied by her characteristic good cheer and exuberance. Marta was a breath of fresh air always, reflecting complete unpretentiousness at all times.

Reb Reuven is renowned as a paragon of anivus and simplicity, and Marta was his equal partner in every way.

Marta had battled illness for the last while and her condition deteriorated until she passed away this evening, plunging her family and friends into mourning.

Marta is survived by her husband, Reb Reuven Schron; their children, Mrs. Chaya Cohen, R’ Avi Schron, R’ Mordy Schron, Mrs. Mimi Scher, R’ Eli Schron, Mrs. Brocha Rothstein, R’ Yechiel Schron and R’ Shmuli Schron; and her beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Mr. Howard Schraub and Mrs. Elaine Jacobs.

The levayah will be held Thursday morning, at 11 a.m., at Shomrei Hadas Chapels, located at 3803 14th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn.
