Mugabe Refuses To Budge In ‘Talks’ With Zimbabwe’s Military

Zimbabwe’s embattled president Robert Mugabe is refusing to hand over the country’s reins, sources say, after the country’s military leadership took swift and largely violence-free control of the country on Wednesday.

The world’s longest-serving head of state and senior allies, including his wife Grace Mugabe, are reportedly locked in talks with the army’s top brass at his sweeping “Blue Roof” compound in the capital Harare.

Government TV showed Mugabe dressed in a navy blue blazer and grey trousers standing alongside army chief General Constantino Chiwenga who smiled and was dressed in camouflage military fatigues. Pictures later published by state press showed the pair smiling and apparently relaxed as they conducted talks in a finely-appointed room. Read more at i24NEWS.
