Music Stored On DNA

One gram of DNA can store the information of 200,000 laptops. Scientists used DNA to store a 50,000-word book in 2012 and are now using it to store music and videos.

Properly preserved, DNA can survive for thousands of years.

To store data on DNA, scientists translate the data from the binary (0s and 1s) system to DNA’s four nucleotide bases system and then synthesize DNA molecules in that sequence.

At present, the process is very slow and too expensive for practical applications.
