Elon Musk is reportedly planning to contribute approximately $45 million monthly to a newly formed political organization supporting former President Donald Trump’s candidacy in the 2024 election, as per a report.

According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Musk, alongside other tech industry figures, is backing America PAC, aimed at mobilizing support for Trump in key swing states. The initiative aims to counterbalance Democratic efforts with robust “get out the vote” campaigns.

Among the notable contributors to America PAC are Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, former US ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft, and her husband Joe Craft, CEO of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners.

America PAC was established in Austin, Texas, where Musk’s Tesla is headquartered, back in May. Musk, 53, has already made substantial donations to the PAC, although the exact amount remains undisclosed.

The coalition has already expended at least $6.6 million to support Trump’s campaign efforts, focusing on voter registration and early voting initiatives, according to information available on its website.

“Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all. We can have the greatest election victory in America’s history when you vote!” reads a message on the America PAC website, encouraging civic engagement.

Musk, who had previously refrained from publicly endorsing any candidate in the 2024 election, shifted his stance after a failed assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania by a 20-year-old gunman.

In response to the incident, Musk swiftly declared his full endorsement of the Republican candidate via social media, marking a notable departure from his previous neutral stance.

While Musk had not explicitly endorsed a candidate earlier in the election cycle, he had been consistently critical of President Biden and had used social media platforms to express support for Trump, notably by reinstating the former president’s X account shortly after purchasing Twitter.
