Critics accuse the Muslim socialist of mocking Jewish traditions rather than celebrating them.
The video shows Mamdani alongside an Indian comedy trio, dressed in “Hanukkah garb,” play-acting a dreidel spin and festive dance.
One social media post noted: “Zohran Mamdani celebrated Hanukkah by releasing a video of himself and an Indian comedy trio dressing up as Jews and spinning a dreidel.”
StopAntisemitism, a watchdog group, condemned the clip as disrespectful, saying the visual felt like cultural mockery turned comedy.
On X, one user wrote: “It seems like this guy loves Jews, when they know their place — dancing, prancing, or mumbling words that no one understands.”
From Mamdani’s camp, no official statement has been issued yet.
