Ben Carson is the new leader in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, pulling ahead of longtime front-runner Donald Trump by six points, the NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll reports.
It’s the first time since June that Trump did not hold the top spot in the survey.
Here are the results:
Ben Carson: 29 percent
Donald Trump: 23 percent
Marco Rubio: 11 percent
Ted Cruz: 10 percent
Jeb Bush: 8 percent
All other candidates have less than 3 percent support.
The poll was conducted October 25-29 and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 4.9 percent.
Other recent polls have put Carson in front of Trump. The most recent CBS/New York Times poll also has Carson leading nationally 26 percent to 22 percent. And Carson is leading in Iowa, where the first caucuses will be held.
