A significant majority of Republicans, amounting to 80 percent, perceive the charges announced last week as politically motivated. In contrast, only 16 percent of Democrats share this perspective.
Conversely, 71 percent of Democrats believe that the charges are not driven by political motivations, while a mere nine percent of Republicans hold the same view.
In addition to assessing the perception of political motives, the pollsters also inquired about whether Americans believe Trump should face criminal charges. Nearly half of the respondents, accounting for 48 percent, expressed support for charging Trump, while 37 percent disagreed and believed he should not be charged.
The survey, which involved 910 U.S. adults, was conducted from June 9 to 10, with a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.
These findings emerged subsequent to the news of Trump’s indictment being reported on Friday. According to the Department of Justice, Trump is accused of retaining classified information beyond his tenure in the White House, inappropriately sharing it with individuals lacking proper clearances, and attempting to impede any efforts to retrieve these documents.

Rachel Maddow had mistakenly said the quiet part out loud to MSNBC regarding Trump’s indictment; i.e. To stop him from running for office again. Anybody surprised?
There is no question that the indictment is politicly motivated . The government spent the past seven years looking for something to indict Trump with. Frequently by means of outright deception. That still doesn’t make Trump innocent
