Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu is making his 14th stay at the Blair House, the prestigious guest residence for visiting dignitaries of the White House. Blair House General Manager Matthew Wendel warmly welcomed Netanyahu back to 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue today, noting that no other foreign leader has stayed at the historic site more times than Netanyahu.

As Netanyahu descended the stairs from the Wing of Zion on a brisk, overcast day, he was greeted with a red carpet reception by Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter, UN Ambassador Danny Danon, and Consul General to New York Ofir Akunis.

An honor guard bearing both American and Israeli flags also greeted him, marking the occasion with ceremonial respect.

Upon his arrival at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, Netanyahu prepared for his key meeting with President Donald Trump scheduled for Tuesday. However, an important precursor to the meeting with Trump took place earlier, as Netanyahu met with special envoy Steve Witkoff on Monday. While the meeting with President Trump is set to be the focal point, the meeting with Witkoff, who has just returned from Israel, is also seen as crucial in advancing talks on the release of hostages.

The Prime Minister’s Office previously announced that Netanyahu and Witkoff had agreed that negotiations for the second phase of the hostage release deal would begin during their meeting. The two leaders discussed Israeli positions in Washington on the 16th day of the agreement, setting the stage for continued progress.

Later in the week, Witkoff is scheduled to meet with Qatar’s Prime Minister and senior officials from Egypt. These discussions were expected to focus on advancing the negotiations, including setting timelines for future delegations.

During their meeting, the parties are expected to discuss extending the first phase of the deal or moving forward with the second phase. A key point of the discussions will be the 50th day of the deal, considered critical as Israel is slated to withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor.

Netanyahu is set to meet with President Trump to discuss how the ongoing negotiations are being handled.

The broader political implications, especially in relation to the Abraham Accords, are expected to be a major part of the discussions. Another key topic will be the “day after” scenario, where Netanyahu is expected to advocate for a resolution that ensures the removal of Hamas’s ability to govern Gaza, alongside the goal of securing the release of all hostages. Despite Hamas’s efforts to project an image of control, Israel remains confident that the terror group will fail to rehabilitate and reclaim control over Gaza.
