A week after Minister of Finance Yair Lapid criticized the “economic catastrophe” of the previous government, Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu has responded, at the opening of the Likud faction meeting.
He said, “Today, I heard the remarks of Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer, and no one disputes his professionalism and skills. Stanley Fischer gave an important response to anyone who discusses the economic achievements of the previous government. He provided fundamental facts,”
Netanyahu added, “In the past four years, Israel outperformed most of the OECD countries in growth and consequently unemployment has reached its lowest level in the past 30 years. 300,000 jobs have been created. The Governor said that this had been achieved during an unprecedented world economic crisis.”
The Governor’s words are really the biggest response to all kinds of achievements from the activities and results that the previous government brought about. We will continue to work to bring about the success of the State of Israel in the coming years too. We have two tasks: to continue the high growth and maintain low unemployment. I’m convinced that we will succeed in doing this in order to lower prices and the cost of living.”
