Obama has nothing to lose! His ratings can’t really get lower so he needn’t fear his detractors and this ever moving world of events will shield him from any long term discomfort backlash. So the humanitarian thing to do atop the goodwill gesture factor that he’d surely like to present to Israel even if purely selfish will be warmly received by American Jewry and Israel. So why not?
He had a chance to do this before these talks started. He brought up the request to free Pollard then but he was immediately rebuffed by the US and he recoiled in fear, as usual.
This way when the talks fail, he can blame Obama.
Wait a moment. Does this mean PM Netanyahu is willing to make dangerous political concessions if Pollard is realeased?
This is brilliant. Even if B.O. doesn’t feel that releasing PLO murderers is objectionable.
