Netanyahu Meets US Ambassador Friedman As July 1 Annexation Decision Looms

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu participated Sunday in a joint meeting with US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz, Knesset (Israel Parliament) Speaker Yariv Levin and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi over preparations for July 1st — the proposed date set for launching the West Bank sovereignty plan.

The talks yielded no definitive outcomes, and will resume on Monday, local media outlets reported.

On Monday, foreign ministers of the European Union are expected to make a conference call with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over the Trump administration’s Peace to Prosperity Mideast peace initiative, which Washington unveiled in February.
