“We should not go to elections,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed on Wednesday night in response to coalition partner Blue and White’s support of the dissolution of parliament — leaving the door open for a last-minute compromise.

“The people of Israel want unity, not ballots, they want vaccinations and not election broadcasts,” Netanyahu continued.

Earlier on Wednesday, a motion submitted to the Knesset (Israel Parliament) to dissolve itself passed in a preliminary reading with 61 votes in favor versus 54 against — with the support of coalition members from the Blue and White party.
