Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud party is gathering information about former IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz in an attempt to find embarrassing stories that could undermine his candidacy in the elections, Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported on Sunday.

Gantz, who formed his own party Hosen Yisrael, is currently seen as the only real threat to Netanyahu in the April 9 elections. The report by Yedioth Ahronoth suggested that Likud is gathering a “Gantz file” consisting of stories and testimonies by subordinates who served under the former IDF chief.

The “files” will reportedly also portray Gantz’ handling of Hamas in the 2014 Gaza war as a failure, since he was IDF chief at the time.

  1. It’s a shame that this is where we need to drop to in order to function. It’s not in the best interest of our people for this to continue!

  2. But he such a down to earth-real person. No guyva. I know a story when he was the head of the army. A mother came to the yearly ceremony that honored 120 soldiers from the whole army. She wanted a picture with her son and Beni Gantz. The son stood for a picture with beni Gantz but since they stood quite a distance from each other in the picture, the mother insisted on another picture ordering instructions to her son and Beni Gantz on how to stand for the next picture. Instead of beni Gantz being insulted that some mother was telling him what to do, he spoke to the son and said very humorously, “I think we both better listen to your mother or we aren’t going to get out of here today.”
