A resident of Monsey, Beck battled serious illness related to coronavirus complications.
Beck, as a leader of Neturei Karta, met with many anti-Israel leaders and infamous anti-Semites, including Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in his work on behalf of his anti-Israel group.

On a related note, I find it very ironic that certain religious (non-Zionist) media were going on and on about how we need to be makir tov to that Zionist spy who recently moved to Israel, with the excuse being the spy meant to save Jews even if what he did was in actuality not needed to save Jews.

On the one hand, Rav Moshe Ber Beck was a talmid chacham and yirei shamayim, who spent all his life learning Torah mitoch hadchak.
On the other hand, in his zeal to eradicate Zionism, which he was taught is the sin of the generation, he did some radical things that were considered misguided by most everyone else, and which may have endangered others.
Does the latter outweigh the former?

When a secular zionist such as shimon peres dies, there are sentimental obituaries in mainstream orthodox publications and news outlets. This is the case for individuals who not only fought with every fiber of their being to undermine torah, but who also put the jewish people in collective danger by association, since they always claim to represent world jewry. Let’s not forget that even religious zionists admit that the arab world’s hatred of us is solely due to zionism (see chamesh drashos from rav yosef dov soloveitchik). That means that jews have died and have been expelled from their homes (500,000 sefardim were expelled after the state was declared) because of zionism.
