Fifty-one years after Israeli spy Eli Cohen was executed in Damascus, a Facebook page named ‘Syrian art treasures’ has published video footage that appears to show the execution, which took place on May 18, 1965, Ynet reports.

The video, just under two minutes long, shows the crowd gathering, and Cohen’s body being placed in a coffin, which is then placed in a vehicle and driven away.

Dr. Yehuda Balanga of the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Bar-Ilan University, an expert on Syria, told Ynet that the video seems entirely authentic to him.

  1. The truth is that if other moves had been made in the Holy Land and Middle East from 1917 onwards

1- Eli Cohen would probably still be alive and be enjoying his old age.

2- The approximately 3400 Israeli soldiers who died in the wars of 1967 and 1973 would not have fallen.

3- The Golan Heights could be part of a peaceful, stable, ordered and benevolent Middle East Jigsaw Puzzle/Confederation/Kingdom.

  2. Eli Cohen epitomized the word “Hero”. It is impossible for words alone to adequately describe his bravery and self-sacrifice. B’Gan Eden tihei minuchosoi. Yehi zichroi boruch.

  3. There is no such thing as a peaceful, stable, ordered and benevolent middle east as the muslim religion is a bloody, unstable and disordered way of life. If Israel did not exist, the Jews living there would be under arab rule and we saw how that worked out in the 1927 Hevron massacre. Never again with Hashem’s help and our own hishtadlus we will have peace!
