With summer coming and COVID-19 vaccines being deemed safe for children as young as 12, some camps are talking about the possibility of a mask-free summer for vaccinated campers.
But one Jewish camp being planned for the summer is taking a different approach: barring any vaccinated camper or staff from attending at all.
Advertisements for Camp Hikon, planned for upstate New York, appeared on email listservs popular in the Orthodox Jewish community just days after a private school in Miami made news for discouraging teachers from getting the vaccine and telling children they were not to have contact with vaccinated people.
The camp’s announcement also comes as posters encouraging people not to get the COVID-19 vaccines appeared in Midwood, Brooklyn, the Orthodox neighborhood where one member of the founding team runs a natural foods store.

What makes it ‘frum’? Who is the Mara D’Asra?
What is your typical camper demographic?
While we embrace Rabbinic Judaism and esteem Torah study and practice as the pinnacle of human achievement, we are not specifically (or specifically not) looking for campers who hail from particular Torah institutions. Instead, we hope to attract a demographic of “awake” Torah Jews in order to teach them the next steps to take after they have “woken up”. So far, campers in AZ, OH, FL, NJ and NY have expressed interest in joining.
I hope this is a bad joke.
Are you serious? Are you that dumb and still don’t realize the danger of these jabs?
Cool camp i would send my kid there, covid is a hoax , before you call me crazy maybe watch some research from ICAN
Glad to hear that people are b”H finally waking up to this covid nonsense. I’ve been saying this from day 1 and was called a conspiracy theorist tinfoil hatter.
Kol hakavod. I hope no one snitches on them to Cuomo, or whomever the governor will be. Free country. All for “choice”.
Good for them! Finally a normal healthy summer for kids! Thats the way it should be!
Are you sure this is true or just standard anti frum rhetoric.
There is noting in their application about being not vaccinated.
HOPEFULLY it’s true. Only idiots still don’t see the danger.
This is led by the same guy calling himself “Dr. Schwartz” who is actually a teacher. Not very trustworthy when you start off with lies.
Are you Blimi Marcus, nurse practitioner, who has been relentlessly encouraging holy Jews to blindly poison & contaminate their bloodstreams (the nefesh) with tumah filth nanoweaponry that fills every vaccine syringe? Have you been soooo brainwashed & sooooo deceived that you’re doing “tremendous kindness” to yourself & your fellow Jews by partnering with the most diabolical criminals on the planet? You could continue to be in shameless denial though the truth is as transparently clear as ever. Vaccine ideology is designed & meant to destroy society in every dimension. It is the essence of Amalek. You may be too deep into it to think independently, but others who read this can choose to grow up & align with the plain Divine truth. Our original immune systems do not need sophisticated filth to work “better” or to “prevent disease”. That’s complete idiocy also called “the BIG LIE”. Wake up people. There are MORE than enough nonvaccinated children, adults, families, & communities to assess that nonvaccinated people are much healthier in body, mind, & soul – and have a much easier time making healthy choices in life. Children need an energetically healthy environment to thrive – especially during the summer in camp. Children traumatized by vaccines are much more likely to be bullies – a very easy way to keep your campers emotionally healthy is to uninvite vaccinated campers…unless their parents do teshuva & work to detox their children.
Couldn’t have said it better. Thank you!
Where did you see that he calls himself “Dr. Schwartz”? On the camp’s website, on the page for “Team,” it shows a “Naftali Schwartz,” who calls himself a “Veteran Teacher” but not a doctor. It also shows an “Avi Schwartz,” who calls himself a “Health Coach” and a “Certified Life Coach” but not a doctor. It further shows a “Joseph Sacks” who has after his name the letters “LCSW,” which means a “Licensed Certified Social Worker,” but there is no mention of him being a doctor.
Morons.
Referring to yourself?
Check out their website hikon.org. Read their FAQ’s . They don’t plan on learning gemorah with their campers. By the end of the summer they hope their campers are “woke” . I kid you not.
It does not say anywhere they don’t plan on learning gemora it says they won’t people to be able to remember what they learned I geuss you can’t fathom anyone remembering a gemorah so you inferred they will not be learning gemorah
Actually it does say that. These people are nuts and should not be given free advertisement by a frum website.
The FAQ’s explain that their emphasis is that they want to teach the students skills of committing information to memory; which, in other words, are skills of REMEMBERING what they learn. It is easiest to teach and develop such skills with concise pieces of educational material, like Pesukim of Tanach, Mishnaiyos, and Piskei Halachos. However, they further state that if a student wants to learn Gemara, they will definitely get him Chavrusos to do that with him.
It says that they will learn Halacha, Mishna and Tanach, which means, not gemara.
It further says there in the FAQ’s that if a student does want to learn Gemara, they will definitely provide Chavrusos to do that with him.
“Why isn’t Gemara included in the learning program?
Since we’ll be emphasizing the acquisition of memory skills, and since these skills are easiest for beginners to apprehend in the context of Halacha, Mishna and Tanach, and since most Yeshiva boys are in any case ill-equipped to meet the challenges of Gemara study, it seems natural to exclude the teaching of Gemara for this summer.”
The FAQ’s DO NOT say at all that they want to make their campers become “woke” of the current severely wicked radical leftist culture, CHAS V’SHALOM!! INSTEAD, what the FAQ’s page DOES SAY is, quote: “we hope to attract a demographic of ‘awake’ Torah Jews in order to teach them the next steps to take after they have ‘woken up.'” In other words, they want to take Torah observant students who have “woken up” to realizing the need to acquire survival skills and teach them those skills.
We take our hats off for this camp.
But let’s say I’m not wearing a hat to begin with? Or let’s say I am wearing a hat but I’m bald underneath? My old Russian barber used to tell me in his succinct accent, “I know what you want, short but not bald”.
Love it! If they are affordable & cancel visiting day, I’m in!
Sorry to tell you, but Kikar HaShabbos says it’s $3,000 a shot (pun intended!!!)
I saw their ad (it didn’t mention anything about vaccines), I thought just on the merit of their advertisement that it was a weird and somewhat creepy camp.
Camp should be to provide a wholesome summer for children. When the leadership of a camp is so political/in your face with their controversial opinions, it becomes the focal point of their day instead of the children.
What do you think this entire coronavirus is if not politics? This camp wants to keep the children and staff healthy. Give me 1 person who died from this baloney virus (who didn’t have any existing illness, didn’t take the jab and didn’t live in a mask)? This camp director is b”H woke to the political evil.
Talmud jew please read the website and then comment. The following is from the website.

Farikt in kup
Makes sence since we keep hearing about all this shedding from people that took the covid vaccine. I’m avoiding them as much as I can as well. Hearing too many stories
Ignorance at it’s best! The ‘Dark Ages’ were more enlightened!
”…it would hysterical if it wasn’t so tragic!
there is no camp , one wacko has a dream – and this was a publicity stunt to make noise & get free coverage
This is not a dream. This is official from Pfizer’s own documents. Just because you’d rather poison yourself than read documents and enclosed pamphlets, this camp administrator would rather protect the health of all campers and staff.
BORUCH HASHEM!! MAZAL TOV!!
That there is now opening this fantastic great Torah summer camp that keenly realizes the horrific deadly far reaching dangers of the new Covid vaccines. May Hashem grant them much B’racha V’Hatzlacha!!
Considering the source, the Slimes of Israel, there’s got to be more to this story than meets the eye.
I have no idea if this is a legitimate camp or not, but I have two comments, one positive and one negative.
1) The covid vaccine is NOT FDA approved and has only been allowed as an “emergency” provision. It is experimental. Any child, with a developing immune system should NOT get this vaccine which may alter permanently one’s DNA and cause future fatal over-reactions from the immune system if infected later (cytokine storms). The rate of infection of children is about the same as the common flu. Mortality rates for children are .00% – .21% –that’s zero to 2 per 1,000 infected compared with 8% for those over 65 – a 400% increase. Don’t make your child a guinea pig.
2) Using the “woke” language of the left is borrowing from and employing the tools of the sitra achra–the satan. It is not Jewish. It is not Torah. It is tumah. Their statement that “most teens ” are not up to the challenge of learning gemara is ridiculous and just signals they are not really a frum camp with real Torah ideals., and, at best, are simply attracting the students from the weakest “day schools” in the country who have little, if any background in learning..
I would not send my child to this camp but everyone here should calm down and mind their own business.
They don’t say anything on their website about not allowing vaccinated campers, they are willing to provide chavrusas for those who want to learn Gemorah, they make it clear that they are not for those who are interested in mainstream camping and are FOR the atypical camper as well.
Stop being such a bunch of bullies and let them do what they want. Even if they aren’t conforming to what you think they have to conform to and not thinking what you think they have to think.
Actually they do say on the bottom of the application that the child must have not received the Corona vaccine but I agree that they can do what they want unless they are doing something that presents a clear and present danger.
Great news wrote: “That there is now opening this fantastic great Torah summer camp that keenly realizes the horrific deadly far reaching dangers of the new Covid vaccines”: A camp that is not planning on learning Gemora cannot be called a “torah camp”.
stupid is as stupid does. and let’s wait for the idiotic numbskulls who distrust 99 percent of medical professionals and find the one discredited quack to tie their blinded trust in. you can lead a horse to water but you can’t fix stupid
