Israel plans to open a second international airport this year near Eilat due to surging foreign tourism.

In addition, Israel plans to adapt an air force base in the north or south of the country for civilian use to serve as a back-up airport during bad weather or terror attacks, Haaretz reported.

Israel saw a 30% percent growth in tourism this quarter over 2017.
