A groundbreaking technological initiative spearheaded by Magen David Adom (MDA), the Ministry of Transportation, Netivei Ayalon, and Sheba Medical Center is set to transform emergency medical evacuations. The pilot program involves giving MDA’s emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, priority access through intersections via a smart system that relies on GPS tracking and interconnected traffic lights.
This system works autonomously: as an ambulance nears an intersection, it is detected by the system, which then sends the relevant information to both the MDA and Netivei Ayalon control centers. In response, the traffic lights are adjusted to create a “green wave” for the ambulance, enabling it to pass through without unnecessary delays, ensuring a faster and safer route.
Early results from the trial suggest that evacuation times to hospitals are reduced by approximately 40 seconds on average. This improvement could prove to be crucial in saving lives during medical emergencies.
Given the positive outcomes from the initial phase, there are discussions about expanding the system to other regions across the country. The goal is to further enhance the efficiency of emergency response teams and, ultimately, save more lives.

They said that about the light rail as well that it will always have a green light but NEVER happens!!!!
In Israel, anybody in need of a medical emergency and contacts “Hatzalah” get an expensive MDA, a non-free money-grabbing monopoly.
