Channel 10 reported that infrastructure work has begun in the Givat Hamatos neighborhood in south Yerushalayim, where no permanent housing has ever been built. Construction plans for the area were put on ice during the Obama administration. Soil-boring tests are being conducted in preparation for the construction of 1,600 homes. Four hundred more may be approved at a later stage.

This is part of a Housing Ministry plan to add 25,000 homes to Israel’s capital, including 15,000 over the Green Line.

Yerushalayim and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin announced a plan to defend Yerushalayim in the National arena against attempts to deny Jews’ link to the city.
