New York City Grows For First Time In Decade

New Census numbers reveal that New York City grew a little last year for the first time in the decade. In 2010, 252,000 people moved to New York while 220,000 left, according to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

The New York Times reports that New Yorkers haven’t been able to sell their homes.

Another reason for the change in numbers is that more people from struggling parts of the country, like the Rust Belt and the southwest, have been moving in, seeking a chance to start over.

Fewer New Yorkers are also moving south. Since 2006, moves to Florida have dropped by 40 percent.
