bloombergNew York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the government of Nigeria owes the city as much as $16 million in unpaid taxes on the Manhattan building that houses the Nigerian Consulate. According to the lawsuit filed late yesterday in federal court, Nigeria owes somewhere between $4.1 million and $16 million in real estate taxes and interest.Diplomatic offices are tax exempt. But New York City says parts of Nigeria’s 22-story building near the United Nations have been used for commercial purposes including Nigeria Airways offices. Those uses are taxable.

Bloomberg said today that the city will go after every dollar that is owed to taxpayers.

  1. Hey Mike,
Don’t be so concerned, you Fraud! Thanx for bringing the terrorist trials here to N.Y. You bent over backwards to support Obama/Holder’s decision, you Phonie! How much is that going to cost us, the taxpayers? Typical hypocrosy!

  2. don’t you pay a consistent tax, I don’t know what your complaining about, it’s not like their gonna go, Hey, for the next week triple the taxes, it bothers me that when we have a man who, all though by no means righteous, tries doing good, even if it’s an opinionated version and gets bashed for it.
