New York – Pinny Ringel, a longtime askan, is the next Democratic District Leader of the 48th Assembly after winning today’s election.

The ex-City Hall staffer beat incumbent David Schwartz in the race.

“I want to thank the voters of the 48th Assembly District for electing me as their next district leader!” Ringel wrote moments ago on Twitter. “Congratulations to my opponent David Schwartz on a hard fought race and for his past service to the community.”

In recent days, Ringel met meeting with community leaders and voters across the district who expressed their deep appreciation for his tireless work on behalf of the community in city government.

Ringel is well known in the Borough Park and Flatbush communities ever since he became community liaison to former Councilman and now-State Senator Simcha Felder in 2001. He then served as Director for Jewish Outreach in the office of Public Advocate and in the past nine years in City Hall – first at the Administration for Children’s Services and later as Assitant Commissioner of the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit.

Ringel locked up endorsements from all major Chassidic sects and school administrators in Borough Park and the Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition that represents the greater Flatbush Jewish Community.

He was also endorsed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

  1. This “race” was a show of kofoiy tov! Mr. Schwartz was thrown under the bus because he didn’t support the deity Eric Adams. This is a disgrace. You self appointed askanim DON’T represent us. Pinny should of stayed at HighTech 2000.

    • Mayor Eric Adams answered a reporter very well, the facts speaks volumes, Schwartz got 45% of the vote, so that is proof that New Yorkers can’t be intimated!

Both ran good races, but the people spoke and pinny won, has nothing to do with terror.

Schwartz team was spinning that the mayor wanted him out cuz he supported Yang, it’s a Lie!

They wanted him out because schwartz was helping hand over power to the leftwing Progressives & the socialists who defund the police.

  2. Adams would have had more respect for you if you would have told him that you do not want to go against another fellow Frum Yid

  3. A District Leader is a New York ‘Micro Elected Official’ volunteer position with a history in patronage politics. Today, district leaders influence who can be judges, poll workers and members of each borough’s county committee
