sen-darrel-aubertineA Democratic senator is taking the Democrat-led Assembly in New York to court to block a logjam of bills held up in the Senate’s standoff over power. Sen. Darrel Aubertine is taking the Assembly and its legislative clerks to court to force them to accept bills passed by a Democrat-only Senate on June 30. Democratic Gov. David Paterson has already said he won’t sign the disputed bills. Democrats were able to muster a quorum only because they included a Republican who was passing through the chamber to get a cup of coffee.

Aubertine of the 48th Senate District wants a court to force the Assembly to take the bills, which then would force Paterson to act.

Aubertine sponsored one bill to extend a law granting discounted power to employers.
