NFL Players Kneel During National Anthem Following Further Trump Tweets

NFL game day dawned Sunday with a display of unity by the Baltimore Ravens’ and Jacksonville Jaguars’ players and coaches, who locked arms on the sideline of London’s Wembley Stadium – some kneeling, others standing – during the singing of the United States national anthem.

Their statement without words came in response to a three-day campaign by President Donald Trump, who at 6:44 a.m. Sunday renewed his demand that NFL owners “fire or suspend” players who kneel during the national anthem in protest and called on fans to boycott games if the practice continued.

“If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!” Trump tweeted roughly three hours before kickoff of the NFL’s first game of the day, staged in London at part of the league’s effort to extend its fan base over season.

Roughly 30 minutes later, at 7:13 a.m., Trump continued in a second tweet: “NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S.”

Those remarks triggered reactions from many on the rosters, coaching staffs and front offices of the NFL’s 32 teams.

  1. I support the players’ right to kneel during the national anthem just as I support their right to burn, step on or otherwise deface the flag; our country and its freedoms are strong enough to withstand the actions of these idiots without flinching. I also support the right of fans to boycott games played by America-hating, ungrateful millionaires, the right of owners not to want such players on their payrolls and the right of any citizen, from the President on down, to condemn these players in the harshest and strongest terms.

Yes, racism exists (as does anti-Semitism and all other forms of bigotry) and it will never be fully eradicated, but the overwhelming majority of Americans (even “deplorables”) find racists and their ideas loathsome.

Yes, police brutality exists, but the overwhelming majority of cops are decent people who will put their lives on the line to protect you when needed, regardless of your race, religion and so on.

I can’t believe that the tide has turned to the extent that these hyper-rich protesters are now considered the good guys, while those who condemn their actions are considered the baddies.

  2. Pathetic excuse. And anonymous said it beautifully. The lefts talking points speak about gm the first ammendment rights of the players. So do neo nazis have those rights. Yet the neo nazis search is deplorable and so is these players. Trump is saying that they are deplorable. And personally I couldn’t agree more. There are more ways to protest without disgracing the flag and and it represents and offending people otw also. Pathetic brainless spoiled brainwashed ungrateful lowlifes

  3. I have to admit that the President does indeed sound like a total baby… I support Trump’s policies, but he seriously acts like a 2 yr old!
