mark-sokolichThis would explain the apparent vendetta against the city of Fort Lee, New Jersey. The city’s mayor, Mark Sokolich, told the Bergen Record on Thursday that Governor Chris Christie’s administration heavily courted him to endorse Christie during his re-election campaign – and that his refusal to do so resulted in the orchestrated closure of two lanes on the George Washington Bridge that caused massive traffic jams in his town.

Sokolich said that the Christie administration offered gifts to Fort Lee over a two-year period, such as pothole repair and shuttle buses.

He also said that he and two of his cousins were given a personal tour of the 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan by David Wildstein, the Port Authority official and Christie associate who ordered the lane closures. Read more at NBC News.
