Police in Paramus, N.J., are out in force as part of a new statewide distracted driving crackdown.
My FOX 9 rode along with Officer John Henderson, who checked drivers on Route 17. He pulled over a man he spotted talking on his phone. The man got a $130 ticket.
But that’s not the only action considered distracted driving. Texting, eating and drinking, putting on makeup, checking laptops and tablets, and watching movies; police here have seen it all.
The heavy crackdown will continue for three weeks. After that, police will still issue tickets but they’re hoping drivers will change their bad habits before the fines double this summer.

So, I guess the police will have to turn off their in-cruiser laptops and stop talking on the radio, eh?
