shalit1A night before the Shalit family begins its march on Yerushalayim, Noam Shalit, father of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, urged Israelis to join the family in the struggle to free the IDF captive.

“Anyone who cares about Gilad, who has been withering in Hamas captivity for four years, and thinks it’s about time he came home, thinks it’s about time the government brought him home, to join us and march,” Noam Shalit said.

Preparations for the 12-day march to Yerushalayim were underway on Motzoei Shabbos, as the Shalits said they were expecting many supporters to join them and march on the capital.

When asked what the family’s next step may be, Shalit said that “we’ll cross the bridge when we come to it. It’s no secret – we said we that the only way we would come back from Yerushalayim was with Gilad. It’s important that we start the march and that the public will join us.”

Nevertheless, he added, “I have no reason for optimism. We’ll do this first and then we’ll see. if all (the people) who said they will join us will, we’ll be just fine.”

  1. GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! The goverment is trying to do everything in their power to bring him home alive and without releasing thousands of arabs which if they would would make the world a scary place again which we dont want, this protest is the biggest chillul Hashem i could ever imagine which would just cause Hashem to get angry and keep him in prison for longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  2. Any way you can reframe that in case this father, in indescribable pain, reads it? There is still so much that can and should be done, apart from releasing the prisoners. Maybe this will bring greater world recognition to his plight, pressure to allow a visit from the Red Cross, highlighting the plight of other MIAs…Yeshuas Hashem k’heref ayin, and until we KNOW otherwise, we should continue to daven for Gilad ben Aviva and offer chizuk to the family.

BTW, it’s heartening to know that the government is doing what it can. I still think that the face of this sweet boy, who only wanted to protect others, should be seen as much as possible, as a contrast to those who only want to harm and destroy.

When I used the past, “who only wanted”, I only meant that he is in this position because of what he wanted at an earlier stage in life.
