Shares of Nordstrom fell from session highs Wednesday after President Donald Trump said his daughter, Ivanka Trump, had been treated unfairly by the company, CNBC reports.

Trump’s comments follow the upscale department store’s decision to wind down its relationship with the Ivanka Trump brand, reportedly over its performance.

However, the chain was one of the dozens of retailers being targeted by the #GrabYourWallet campaign. That movement is calling for shoppers to boycott brands with ties to the Trump family.

“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!” Trump tweeted midmorning.

Shares of the company declined more than 1 percent immediately after the tweet. They then turned positive and were recently up modestly in afternoon trading. Read more at CNBC.

  1. Nordstrom is a fake store. I’ve tried to go in there a few times. Everything cost a fortune in there. A total rip off. What person in his right mind spends $498 on a davening jacket, and that’s when it’s on sale? Are consumers that dumb and gullible? Wait till there is a %60 off Sale at Jos A Bank and you can even order online with free shipping.

  2. Well, the stock value pendulum swings boyh ways. If a department store wishes to become political, and stop selling a brand due solely to partisanship, whether their own ideology, or to pander to a segment of shoppers, the opposing side will also politicize their shopping at the store, and the stock price will falter.
Experienced businesmen running Nordstrom are surely aware of that fact, and of the repercussions of their “business” decisions.

  3. Yes, Macy’s did so well by dropping Trump lines.
Pres. Trump supporters can back an #OpenYourWallet campaign and shop where the Trump brands are sold.
