In light of the recent happenings in Bnei Brak, with hafganos and protests carried out largely by disenfranchised teens and others seeking to make trouble and battle the Israeli police, Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Gershon Edelstein have issued a statement expressing their opinion that it is absolutely forbidden to participate, or even be in the area of, demonstrations and confrontations.
The daas Torah of Rav Chaim and Rav Gershon will be published in the chareidi dailies tomorrow.
“There is no one in the chareidi community who follows the dvar Hashem who should participate in demonstrations, which, as is well known, is not the way of the Torah.”
They also noted, “It should also be known that the places [of these demonstrations] should be avoided altogether.”
