novominsker-rebbe-hascOn Erev Shabbos Chazon, the bais medrash at Camp HASC was filled with hundreds of staff members gathered to hear divrei chizuk from Rav Yaakov Perlow, the Novominsker Rebbe and Rosh Agudas Yisroel.  After davening Maariv together, the Rov of Camp HASC, Rav Judah Mischel, introduced the Rebbe as a “role model of responsibility, love and commitment to Klal Yisroel,” and expressed appreciation for the effort the Rebbe and Rebbetzin made to visit.

The Rebbe praised the counselors and dedicated staff for their “tireless work and mesirus nefesh” on behalf of campers and their families, and stressed how “privileged” he felt to “be among those who practice real chesed shel Emes”.

“You should be admired, appreciated and looked up to for what you are doing here”, said the Rebbe; “you are practicing b’foal the words of the Navi echoed by the Rambam in Hilchos Megillah, ‘“L’hachyos Lev Nidka’im, u’lhachyos Ruach Sh’fali,m” – to literally bring life to those who are broken, lift up the depressed and disabled… The Ribono shel Olam consecrates mundane activities on behalf of others, and elevates them to the higher level of being a mitzvah; everything you are doing here  is fulfilling V’halachta B’drachav emulating and walking in the ways  of Hakadosh Baruch Hu“.

Through the coordination of HASC’s Executive Director, Rabbi Shlomo Stern, the staff have been visited by numerous Gedolim over the past few summers, including HaRav Matisyahu Solomon shlit”a who remarked that, “coming to HASC…gives me chizuk for the whole year”. It was a special night of Hisorerus and Kovod HaTorah, and we hope the heartfelt words of the Novominsker Rebbe are fulfilled; that “in the zechus of the Ahavas Chinam of this camp, Be’ezras Hashem we will see the Binyan Beis Hamikdosh b’meheira“.
