A top official with the National Rifle Association’s lobbying arm said Thursday following an Oval Office meeting with President Trump and Vice President Pence that the pair “don’t want gun control.”

In a tweet, NRA-ILA executive director Chris Cox also defended Trump as supporting “strong due process” a day after the president raised eyebrows among gun rights advocates with his call to “take the guns first, go through due process second.”

“I had a great meeting tonight with @realDonaldTrump & @VP. We all want safe schools, mental health reform and to keep guns away from dangerous people. POTUS & VPOTUS support the Second Amendment, support strong due process and don’t want gun control,” Cox tweeted Thursday night.

  1. The NRA has become a evil extremist organization. You can’t scream fire in a movie theater and you shouldn’t be able buy a military style gun.

    • Please, tell me how a “military style gun” is more dangerous than any other gun. The NRA spends most of their effort teaching gun safety.

      • How much did you drink on Purim. You don’t see any difference between a machete and a box cutter. You really don’t see the difference between a gun which is designed to shoot hundreds of bullets at one time from long distances and a hunting rifle. Do you really believe someone should own armor piercing bullets. I will say it again the NRA is an evil, extremist organization that is responsible for the maiming and killing of hundreds of people. Its about time the politicians stood up to these thugs.

        • Last I checked, the NRA doesn’t own any machine gun company. Last I checked, the NRA did not write the constitution or the 2nd amendment.
If you want the 2nd amendment repealed, vote for the Indian, Elizabeth Warren.

        • “designed to shoot hundreds of bullets at one time from long distances” – may be in a parallel dimension or something. On planet Earth, machine guns are illegal in the USA, and hunting rifles are not designed for close quarters shooting. There is no functional difference between hunting rifles and the so called “assault rifles”. Your opinionated ignorance knows no bounds.

    • Don’t like the right to bear arms? Change the constitution. Until then don’t embarrass yourself with ignorance gems, such as “military style guns” and “assault rifles”.

      • Seems like lots of people listen to Hannity. Wonder how many of these pro-NRA posters have actually ever touched a gun?
