The National Security Agency (NSA) on Tuesday rejected claims made by Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the agency was monitoring his electronic communications and seeking to leak them in an effort to take his show off the air, calling the allegations “not true.”
“Tucker Carlson has never been an intelligence target of the Agency and the NSA has never had any plans to try to take his program off the air,” the NSA wrote in a statement shared on its Twitter page.
“NSA has a foreign intelligence mission. We target foreign powers to generate insights on foreign activities that could harm the United States. With limited exceptions (e.g. an emergency), NSA may not target a US citizen without a court order that explicitly authorizes the targeting,” the agency added.

The base claim from Tucker Carlson was that the NSA read Tucker’s e-mail regarding a certain journalistic story that he was working on. The matter of “spying” on Tucker Carlson was his inference, but not a base claim. The point is that the NSA has not denied the base claim – that the NSA had read Tucker Carlson’s e-mail.
But further to the NSA wording:

The inference that Tucker Carlson was making was that he was a politically motivated target, but the NSA is obfuscating with the non-sequitur “intelligence target”.
Nowhere in that statement does it say that they did not intercept his text messages and emails. All it says is that he was never a target.
So his staffer who happens to be an immigrant, sure target him, you’ll sweep up all the info you want while “not targeting Tucker”
And the statement that they have no intention to leak anything, we have seen enough rogue employees of the government ( including likely Adam Schiff) leaking like sieves when it served the political interests of the left.
Read carefully. They never denied spying on him.
