amtrakThe National Transportation Safety Board said Monday an FBI investigation found the Amtrak train that derailed in Philadelphia last week had no evidence of damage that could have been caused by a firearm. The NTSB added it “has not ruled out the possibility that another object may have struck the windshield.”

An assistant conductor had previously told investigators that just before the accident he heard a radio transmission from the engineer that the train had been struck.

The New York-bound Amtrak Train 188 derailed while traveling at 106 mph on a 50mph-turn, killing eight people and injuring more than 200 others. Read more at NPR.
